Jorge Carlos Manicera Fuentes (born November 4, 1938 in Villa Dolores , Montevideo , † September 18, 2012 ) was a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

Manicera began his club career in 1958 with the Uruguayan club Rampla Juniors . He then played from 1962 to 1967 for Nacional Montevideo , where he won the Uruguayan championship in 1963 and 1966 and advanced to the final with the Bolsos at the Copa Libertadores 1967 . At the Bolsos he formed the defensive with goalkeeper Roberto Sosa and Emilio Álvarez . In 1967 he moved to Brazil to Flamengo Rio de Janeiro . There he was champion in 1967 and 1968 and vice-champion in 1970. He was under contract with Flamengo until 1970. The following year, at the end of his career, he played for a few months for Club Atlético Cerro .

National team

The defender was a member of the Uruguayan national soccer team , with which he took part in the 1966 World Cup. In England he was in the starting line-up in all games with Uruguayan participation and formed the defense together with Horacio Troche . Overall, Manicera completed in the period from August 15, 1962 to July 1, 1967 21 internationals for his home country; He did not score goals.
