Jorge Solís (soccer player)
Jorge Solis (* in San Ramón de los Palmares , Alajuela ), also known by the nickname Palmareño , is a former Costa Rican football player at the position of the right full-back , and according to some experts the best, the most ever for Costa Rica on this post has played.
Life

"Palmareño" Solís played in the 1950s for the Costa Rican teams Asociación Deportiva Ramonense and Club Sport La Libertad before moving to the Mexican league for Atlas Guadalajara . Then he was still with the Mexican clubs Nacional de Guadalajara and Deportivo Tampico as well as the Guatemalan first division club Social y Deportivo Municipal under contract before returning to Costa Rica. There he won the championship with the Liga Deportiva Alajuelense in 1966 and ended his active career in 1967.
National team
Solís played eleven internationals for his home country and won the 1955 championship of Central America and the Caribbean.
Trivia
On April 29, 1979, the stadium in his native Palmares was named after him and has since been officially called Estadio Jorge Palmareño Solís . The stadium serves as the home ground for the AD Palmareña football team.
