Jorge Uliarte (born August 21, 1962 in Córdoba , Argentina ) is the conductor of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra and the Moscow Symphony Orchestra (MSO) and director of the "Southernmost Festival in the World", which take place every year for two weeks in Ushuaia ( Tierra del Fuego ). In July 2011 Jorge Uliarte founded a new ten-day music festival in Orvieto / Italy.

Life

Jorge Uliarte was born in Córdoba, Argentina. He attended the music conservatories in Cordoba , Buenos Aires , Lausanne , Santa Cecilia- Rome and Belgium . He obtained his diploma as orchestral conductor at the University of Concepcion and completed the post-graduate fellowship as orchestral conductor at the University of the Royal College of Music in Manchester .

At the age of 16 he made his debut as a pianist at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. He won the South America International Ravel Competition . In 1990 he founded the “Pan American Youth Orchestra” based in Buenos Aires, with which he worked as a conductor and pianist. In London was Sir Georg Solti attention to Jorge Uliarte and invited him as his assistant at the Salzburg a Festival.

He then started an international career on many stages in Europe and America.

In 2005 Jorge Uliarte founded the southernmost festival in the world in Ushuaia, which he is responsible for as artistic director. The festival is under the patronage of the city and state of Salzburg. In 2008 Jorge Uliarte founded his own orchestra “Orquesta Filarmonica de Ushuaia”.

In November 2008 Jorge Uliarte conducted numerous concerts as a conductor with the Berliner Symphoniker in Argentina, a. a. in Mar del Plata, at the international cinema festival, in the "Teatro Argentino" in La Plata, further in the "Teatro El Circulo" in Rosario and in the "Teatro Coliseo" in Buenos Aires. The crowning glory was an open-air concert for 60,000 people in the center of Buenos Aires, at the Obelisk, the city's landmark. This concert was also televised and reached more than 30 million viewers via satellite. In 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Jorge Uliarte conducted concerts with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra (MSO) in Argentina, China and Russia. In July 2011, under his artistic direction, the first music festival was founded in Orvieto , which will in future take place every year in July.

In 2014 the 10th Music Festival was held in Ushuaia, under the direction of Jorge Uliarte. A highlight of this festival was a concert with Bruno Gelber .
