Jori Huhtala

Jori Huhtala (* 1984 in Jyväskylä ) is a Finnish double bass player and composer of modern jazz .

Huhtala, who was interested in jazz from an early age, received first lessons at the local conservatory. After being at the 2010 and 2011 Royal College of Music Stockholm studied in Stockholm, he completed his master's degree in 2014 at the Sibelius Academy .

He first played in the group Kvalda , with whom he has presented three albums since 2004. His own quintet includes the saxophonists Joakim Berghäll and Mikko Innanen as well as Aki Rissanen and Ville Pynssi. In 2011 and 2013 he also released two albums for the Italian CAM Jazz label with the band Big Blue , which includes Jorma Kalevi Louhivuori, Antti Kujanpää and Joonas Leppanen . He also accompanied Raoul Björkenheim on a European tour in the Ecstasy group .
