Jussi Lehtonen (born January 14, 1977 in Tampere ) is a Finnish jazz musician ( drums , composition).

Live and act

Lehtonen, who studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki , had been with the Finnish group U-Street All Stars since 2001 , with whom he recorded two Blue Note albums. He also founded the project In the Spirit of Jaco Pastorius and has released three albums under his own name since 2009. Together with Aki Rissanen he leads a quartet to which Dave Liebman belongs.

Lehtonen has worked closely with Tim Hagans , Randy Brecker , Marc Bernstein and Jukkis Uotila . He can also be heard on albums by Teemu Viinikainen, Eero Koivistoinen , Gustav Lundgren, Mirja Mäkelä and Jussi Lampela. He has also performed with the UMO Jazz Orchestra , Tim Hagans, Randy Brecker, Wayne Krantz , Palle Danielsson , Rick Margitza , Scott Kinsey, the Stockholm Jazz Orchestra and the Norrbotten Big Band .

Lehtonen teaches jazz rhythm and drums at the Sibelius Academy.
