José Gutiérrez Barajas (* 1923 in El Salto , Jalisco ; † unknown), also known by the nickname El Pelón ( Spanish for " bald head "), is a former Mexican football player who acted in defense . When professional football was introduced in Mexico in the 1943/44 season, he was under contract with Club Deportivo Guadalajara and was considered a sure penalty taker . In the three seasons of 1943/44, 1944/45 and 1945/46 he scored a total of ten goals, seven of which were from penalties.

Following his time at CD Guadalajara, he was sold to city rivals Club Deportivo Oro - according to the Spanish-language Wikipedia, this was in 1948 .

José Gutiérrez Barajas is also known as José Gutiérrez Sr .; because he is the father of the same name José Gutiérrez , who was also nicknamed "El Pelón". Son José Gutiérrez also played for Club Deportivo Guadalajara, with whom he won the Mexican championship in the 1986/87 season .
