Jasper Good (born May 10, 1996 ) is an American Nordic combined skier .
Career
Good, who starts for the Steamboat Springs WSC , made his international debut in the Continental Cup in December 2015 , but missed the points in the two competitions based on the Gundersen method in Park City . Also at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2013 in Liberec , Good only reached 51st place. A year later he showed himself slightly improved at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2014 in Val di Fiemme , but did not finish in the top 30 in the individual competitions. With the team, he was second to last. Also at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2015 in Almaty , Good clearly missed the medal ranks, but with 21st place in the Gundersen Singles was able to achieve his best result at a Junior World Championship for the time being.
On January 24, 2015 Good was able to get his first Continental Cup point in Planica . After winning just five more points, he finished the 2014/15 Continental Cup season in 88th place overall. On March 7, 2015, Good first started in a World Cup competition when he finished sixteenth with Taylor Fletcher . After he achieved better results in the Continental Cup at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, Good occasionally started in the World Cup, where he was unsuccessful. His development could also be observed at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2016 in Râșnov , where he finished twelfth in the Gundersen competition and eleventh in the sprint.
In January 2017, Good in Ruka was among the top ten in the Continental Cup for the first time. Despite further attempts, however, he did not succeed in making the points in the World Cup. Although this did not succeed in 2017/18 either, he was nominated for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . There he finished 45th on the normal hill and 43rd on the large hill. Both competitions were held over 10 kilometers.
Good made a big step forward in the 2018/19 season. In August 2018 he achieved the points in the Grand Prix for the first time in Oberwiesenthal . Good won his first World Cup points in January 2019 in Trondheim . After two more points in Klingenthal , he was called up for the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld , where he reached ranks 46 and 47 in the individual decisions using the Gundersen method. Good was not used in the team sprint or in the relay. He finished the World Cup season in 64th place.
In April 2019, Good enlisted in the Utah Army National Guard , where he was accepted into the World Class Athlete Program for excellence. Due to this commitment, Good did not take part in any competitions in the summer and had to accept a shortened preparation for the winter. Therefore, he started in the Continental Cup , where the results were disappointing in the middle to lower ranks. So that the United States could take part in the relay competition in Oberstdorf , he was appointed to the World Cup team at the end of January 2020 despite poor form. Together with Jared Shumate , Taylor Fletcher and Ben Loomis , he finished eighth, seven minutes behind the victorious Norwegians.
