José Ignacio Ordóñez (* 1829 in Cuenca ; † July 14, 1893 ) was an Ecuadorian Roman Catholic clergyman and Archbishop of Quito .

Life

Ordóñez was ordained a priest in December 1855 .

Pope Pius IX appointed him on June 22, 1866 first bishop of Bolivar . He was ordained episcopate on September 23 of the same year by Remigio Esteves de Toral , Bishop of Cuenca . Ordóñez resigned from his episcopate in 1879. On July 3, 1882 Pope Leo XIII appointed him . then Archbishop of Quito, which he held until his death in 1893.
