The Diocese of Riobamba ( lat. : Dioecesis Rivibambensis , span. : Diócesis de Riobamba ) is in Ecuador located Roman Catholic diocese based in Riobamba .
history
The diocese Riobamba was on December 29, 1862 by Pope Pius IX. established from cession of territory by the diocese of Cuenca as the diocese of Bolívar . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Quito as a suffragan . On August 25, 1955, the diocese of Bolívar changed its name to the diocese of Riobamba . The Diocese of Riobamba gave on December 29, 1957 parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Guaranda .
