José Lacay

José Miguel Lacay Vásquez (born March 19, 1947 in Santo Domingo ; † November 14,  2016 ibid) was a Dominican singer.

Live and act

Lavay made his debut in 1960 at the age of thirteen on the television program La Hora del Moro , which was directed by Rafael Solano . From 1962 he studied in New York at the High School of Comerse and also took singing lessons with Gilberto Muñoz . He later continued his vocal training with Ivonne Haza in Santo Domingo. In 1966 he joined Myrta Silva show Una Hora Contigo at WNJ TV, Canal 47 , a Spanish-language stations in the New York area, on.

From 1968 he took part regularly in the Festival de la Canción Dominicana in Santo Domingo. He was a finalist every time and won first prize at the fifth festival in 1972 with the song Llegó el Invierno by the brothers Fernando and Ricardo Escovar . Since the early 1970s he has successfully represented the Dominican Republic at international festivals in France, Spain, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Mexico, Panama, Curazao and Puerto Rico. He has also appeared internationally as the solo singer of the Ballet Folklórico Nacional , directed by Josefina Miniño . He became popular with titles such as Marión , El motivo , Ya , La copia and Amor desolado .

Lacay died on November 14, 2016 in Darío Contreras Hospital in Santo Domingo.
