biography
society
The player with Asturian family roots began his active career with the Mexican capital club CF Asturias , but switched to its arch-rivals España early on . In 1942 General Aguirre brought the talented striker to Club Marte . The team, upgraded with other top players, won the last championship of the Primera Fuerza (1942/43) before the introduction of professional football. Even the first season in the newly created Primera División , Borbolla was still in the service of Club Marte before moving to Spain in 1944 , where he played for Real Madrid , Deportivo La Coruña and Celta de Vigo .
In 1947 he returned to Mexico, where he first played for his former club Real Club España. He then switched to CD Veracruz and at the end of his active career he was under contract with Club America . After the end of his playing career, he trained the Americanistas for one more season before he went into business for himself as a textile manufacturer .
National team
He played twice in his home country's jersey when Mexico played two test matches against Spain (1: 3 and 0: 0) a few weeks before the 1950 World Cup . Borbolla was also part of the Mexican World Cup squad and was probably used there in the game against Switzerland (1: 2).

Individual evidence and explanations
- ↑ The data of his club membership were taken from the following sources: in the quoted article about Borbolla's arrival at Real Madrid , the beginning of his professional career is estimated at 18 years, which corresponds to the year 1938. According to the Spanish and English Wikipedia, his career began with Asturias. The stations from 1939 to his move to La Coruña in 1945 are taken from page 277 of the book Libro de Oro del Fútbol Mexicano by Juan Cid y Mulet. The details of his other stations follow the Spanish Wikipedia (for his time in Spain from 1944 to 1947) as well as the seasonal articles about the Mexican league on RSSSF (from 1947 to 1951).
- ↑ Both the globally recognized website for football statistics and the book A History of Football in Mexico by Jorge Gomez Anguas mention Borbolla as a center forward in the last group game against Switzerland, while according to the official website of the Mexican Football Association he was without a stint at the 1950 World Cup. Since versions of Wikipedia in other languages also mention his participation in the World Cup game against Switzerland, it is more likely that the Mexican Football Association was mistaken.
