José Luis Trejo

José Luis Trejo Montoya (born August 4, 1951 in Tepeji del Río de Ocampo , Hidalgo ) is a former Mexican football player and coach .

Life

During his active time, Trejo completed two test matches for the Mexican national team : on August 6, 1975 against the selection of the GDR (1-0) and on October 20, 1975 against Israel (0: 1), each over the full distance of 90 minutes . He was also part of the Mexican squad at the soccer tournament of the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich . As an active player he was under contract with Atlético Español and Tecos de la UAG .

After his active career, Trejo began a career as a coach and has already worked as head coach at nine clubs in the Mexican Primera División . His first stop was Toros Neza and his first game was won 5-2 on September 5, 1988 against the Tigres de la UANL. He then coached the teams of Cruz Azul , Jaguares de Chiapas , Pachuca , Tigres de la UANL , Necaxa , Morelia , Tecos de la UAG and most recently Puebla FC , for which he was in the 2-0 defeat by Atlante on January 29th 2011 in the Estadio Olímpico Andrés Quintana Roo played his 300th first division game as a coach.

His greatest successes so far have been reaching the finals for the Copa Libertadores 2001 , which his team Cruz Azul only lost on penalties against Boca Juniors , and winning the Mexican championship with Pachuca in the Clausura 2006, the second half of the 2005/06 season .
