José María Muñiz (born May 16, 1956 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .
Career
society
Midfielder Muñiz was in 1975 and 1976 in the Nacional Montevideo ranks in the Primera División . In 1981 he joined the Racing Club in Argentina , for which he played 17 games that year without being able to record a personal goal. He then left the club. Other career stations in the course of his career were the Uruguayan clubs Club Atlético Rentistas and Rampla Juniors , Jorge Wilstermann in Bolivia , Vasco da Gama in Brazil and in 1984 Universidad Católica in Ecuador . In 1986 he ended his active career.
National team
Muñiz was part of the Uruguayan U-20 national team , which took part in the Junior South American Championship in Peru in 1975 and won the title. During the tournament he was used by coach Walter Brienza in six games. He scored two hits. He was also a member of Uruguay's senior team , for which he played eight international matches between February 25, 1976 and November 24, 1976. He did not score an international goal. However, other sources locate three more international matches in 1977, when he also won the Copa Artigas with Uruguay and therefore played for the "Celeste" for the last time on January 23, 1977. He also came to the train at the Copa del Atlántico in 1976.

After the career
“Negro” Muñiz ran a grill restaurant in the north of the Ecuadorian capital Quito at least in 2010. At that time, the Uruguayan who was married to Mónica Verdesoto had been living in the Andean country for 24 years.
