José Maria Maimone

José Maria Maimone SAC (born October 6, 1932 in Astolfo Dutra ) is a Brazilian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Umuarama .

Life

José Maria Maimone joined the Pallottine Order and was ordained a priest on June 29, 1961 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on June 12, 1973 as the first bishop of the diocese Umuarama established in the previous month . The Pope personally donated him episcopal ordination on June 29 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishops of the Curia, Agostino Casaroli , Secretary of the Council for Public Affairs of the Church, and Bernardin Gantin , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples .

Pope John Paul II accepted his early resignation on May 8, 2002.
