José Pedro Machado Vieira (* 1959 in Angola ) is a Portuguese diplomat .

Career

Vieira is a lawyer from Angola . He was Head of Department at the OSCE , Director General for Multilateral Affairs, seconded to the Directorate for Institutional Services and at the Portuguese Permanent Mission to NATO in Brussels . Vieira was also consul in Santos ( Brazil ) and consul general in Hamburg . From 2014 to 2017 he was Director of Services for Asia and Oceania in the General Directorate of Foreign Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On August 22, 2017, Vieira was appointed Portuguese Ambassador to East Timor by Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa . Vieira presented his accreditation to the East Timorese President Francisco Guterres on January 19, 2018.
