José Daniel van Tuyne (born December 13, 1954 in Rosario ) is a former Argentine football player. He took part in the 1982 World Cup with the national team of his home country .

Career

Club career

José van Tuyne began his football career in 1974 with Rosario Central in his hometown. At Rosario Central, where he played with other Argentinian football greats of the time such as Mario Kempes or Daniel Killer , he did not win a title, but made 159 league games (one goal) in six years. In 1979 van Tuyne left Rosario Central and joined CA Talleres from Córdoba , the second largest city in Argentina . There José van Tuyne played for a year and in 1981 went on to the Racing Club from Avellaneda , an industrial suburb of the capital Buenos Aires . His work there lasted only a year and after 37 games (two goals) he moved to CD Los Millonarios in Colombia . At the club from the capital Bogotá , José van Tuyne also won a national championship for the first time. In the 1987 season Los Millonarios was able to win his twelfth championship together with van Tuyne . In the same year, José van Tuyne ended his footballing career at the age of 33 with Los Millonarios.

National team

José van Tuyne made eleven appearances for the Argentine national soccer team between 1979 and 1982 . National coach César Luis Menotti , he was in the squad for the 1982 FIFA World Cup appointed to Spain where the Argentine team took as the defending champion. In a team with many world champions from 1978 such as Kempes, Daniel Passarella , Jorge Olguín or Américo Gallego , however, van Tuyne was not used. Meanwhile, the Argentine selection failed in the intermediate round. Three years before the World Cup, José van Tuyne took part in the 1979 Copa America with Argentina . The reigning soccer world champion was eliminated after the preliminary round.
