Joséphin Soulary , actually Joseph Marie Soulary (born February 23, 1815 in Lyon , † March 28, 1891 ibid), was a French poet .

Life

Soulary entered the army in 1831, at the age of 16, and remained there until 1836. His first publications come from this time; small lyrical works of a patriotic nature, which he wrote under the pseudonym “S. Grenadier ”in the journal L'Indicateur de Bordeaux . In 1840 Soulary got a job in his hometown in the prefecture of the Rhône department .

In addition, he was able to make a name for himself as a writer over time. Jules Janin became aware of him and began promoting him. It was through this that Soulary met Arsène Houssaye and other Parnassians , whom he then joined. Alphonse Lemerre later included some of Soulary's works in the anthology Le Parnasse contemporain .
