Jozef "Jos" Heyligen (born June 30, 1947 in Ham ) is a former Belgian football player and current coach .
Player career
Heyligen began his adult career at KFC Diest and moved through this, as well as K. Beerschot VAC and Royal Antwerp in 1975 to K Waterschei SV Thor Genk, which years later became KRC Genk together with KFC Winterslag . After four years at Genk, he moved to FC Beringen in 1979. After only one year it went back to Genk this time to the KFC Winterslag, where he was active for another year. He then moved to KVC Westerlo for another season , where he also took over his first coaching position. He couldn't win a title in all of his playing days.
International playing career
Heyligen took part in the European Football Championship in 1972 in his home country and came third there with the team. At the 1980 European Football Championship in Italy , he climbed the ladder of success with the national team and became vice European champion.
Coaching career
While he was still ending his career as a player, he took his first steps as a football coach and in this position has already been under contract with numerous well-known Belgian clubs.
