General

The club was founded in 1936 as SK Heusden. Immediately afterwards the name was changed to KSK Heusden. In 1997 the club played for the first time in Belgium's third-highest division. Two years later the club merged with the KFC Helzold to form KSK Heusden-Zolder. In 2000, the club was allowed to play in the second highest league in Belgium for the first time. Two years later, the run of success continued and the club played in the Jupiler League , the top Belgian division. In their first season, the club immediately finished fifth. The team has been Belgium's most growing and improving team of all time, with five promotions in the last decade. 2003 came the first relegation and the club had to play again in the second division. In 2005 the name was changed to KVV Beringen Heusden-Zolder. This year the license for the second division was also withdrawn, so the club had to play in Belgium's third-highest division since that time. At the beginning of 2006 the club was temporarily dissolved, and since April of this year Berkenbos VV has been playing in the third division of Belgium under the name Koninklijke VV Beringen-Heusden-Zolder.
