The FC Wiltz 71 is a Luxembourg football club from the city of Wiltz . The club colors are red and white. The club has been playing its home games in the new Am Poetz stadium in Weidingen since October 2015 .
history
The club was created in 1971 from the merger of the two clubs US Niederwiltz and FC Gold a Ro'd Wiltz . In 1978 FC Arminia Weidingen joined the merger. Within ten years, FC Wiltz 71 managed to move up from the fourth division to the national division . Since then, the club has been relegated seven times, but never played lower than in the second-rate honorary doctorate .
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the Luxembourg Football Association interrupted the current season on March 12, 2020. At the time of the interruption after the 15th matchday, FC Wiltz 71 was in second place in the honorary doctorate , which entitles it to direct promotion to the BGL Ligue .
On April 22, 2020, the association announced the final end of the season and declared Wiltz to be promoted to the BGL Ligue.
successes
The greatest success in the National Division was reaching 5th place in the 1995/96 and 2005/06 seasons . In the national cup, the Coupe de Luxembourg , they stood in the 2001 final against Etzella Ettelbrück , but lost 3: 5.
The junior players of the U15 of FC Wiltz 71 managed to get into the 2nd division in 2010. They also reached the quarter-finals of the Coupe de Luxembourg, but lost there 1: 4 against SC Bettembourg .
