Union Sportive Esch is a Luxembourg football club from Esch an der Alzette .

history

The association was founded in 1913.

In the season 1925/26 US Esch belonged to the highest Luxembourg division, the national division, for one season .

After the German occupation of Luxembourg in 1940, the club was renamed Eintracht Esch . In 1944 it was renamed.

In 1948, US Esch won the earlier Coupe FLF , the national cup competition for clubs in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd division (third to fifth division), by a 4: 3 over Rapid Neudorf .

In the following years US Esch rose to the fifth division and only played again in the honorary doctorate in the 1952/53 season . Since then, the club has been commuting between the third and fifth division.

In 2014, the Escher were again in the final of the Coupe FLF , where they were defeated by FC Titus Lamadelaine 2: 3 after extra time.

In 2015 Union Sportive missed the promotion to the honorary doctorate through a 5-6 defeat on penalties in the barrage game against FC Monnerich . In the 2015/16 season, he was finally promoted directly.

Already three game days before the end of the 2016/17 season, the Escher could not be displaced prematurely from a direct promotion place and managed to march through the honorary doctorate and the associated return to the top division after 92 years. In addition, Union Sportive reached the semifinals of the Coupe de Luxembourg for the first time in the club's history , where the club lost 3-0 to eventual cup winner F91 Dudelange in front of a home crowd .

At the beginning of the 2017/18 season , the Zone d'activité Lankhelz venue in the Lallingen district was equipped with standing stands in order to meet the requirements of the BGL Ligue . The season was disastrous. The 2-1 win at Victoria Rosport on Matchday 4 should remain the only one in the entire season. With just four points from 26 games, Union Sportive was already the first relegated team four match days before the end of the season.
