Joscius († around 1202) was the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Tire and Chancellor of the Kingdom of Jerusalem .

He was a canon and subdeacon in Acre before becoming Bishop of Acre in November 1172. In 1179 he took part in the Third Lateran Council . During his stay in Europe he visited Duke Hugo III on behalf of King Baldwin IV of Jerusalem . of Burgundy to negotiate his marriage to Balduin's sister Sibylle . The marriage did not take place; instead, Sibylle married Guido von Lusignan in 1180 .

In 1186 he succeeded the historian Wilhelm von Tire as Archbishop of Tire. In 1187 he traveled in an embassy on behalf of Guido von Lusignan, who had meanwhile risen to king of Jerusalem , from Jerusalem to Tiberias , to meet with his rival Raymond III. of Tripoli to negotiate and prevent an impending civil war. On the way he was attacked by invading Saladin's troops and his entourage was almost completely wiped out at the Battle of Cresson . Joscius was one of the few survivors who finally reached Tiberias and negotiated a reconciliation between Raimund and Guido. After the defeat of Hattin and the fall of Jerusalem , Conrad of Montferrat organized the defense of Tire. This sent Joscius as head of a delegation to Europe to solicit help for the beleaguered kingdom. In Sicily he met with King Wilhelm II , who immediately dispatched a fleet that was to play an essential part in the defense of Tripoli . He traveled on to France via Rome , where he was received by King Henry II of England and King Philip II of France in January 1189 . He brokered a peace between the two of them and persuaded them to join the Third Crusade .

Under King Henry I of Jerusalem , he was also Chancellor of the Kingdom of Jerusalem from 1192. In 1198 he was present at the founding of the Teutonic Order .
