Josef Bock (born February 11, 1883 in Vienna ; † May 15, 1966 there ) was an Austrian sculptor .

Life

Josef Bock studied at the Staatsgewerbeschule and then from 1904 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Hans Bitterlich and in the master school under Edmund Hellmer . From 1921 to 1938 he was a member of the Secession , after which he belonged to the Künstlerhaus.

In 1927 Bock ran on the electoral list of the Social Democrats for the district council of Vienna-Leopoldstadt .

After his death, Bock was buried in the Gersthof cemetery .

meaning

Josef Bock created numerous sculptures out of wood, stone and bronze. The focus of his work was on portraits and small sculptures. Stylistically, it was shaped by the late Art Nouveau.
