from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Josef Bruckmann (* December 24, 1890 in Cologne ; † December 21, 1948 there ) was the youngest German co- founder of SC Colonia 06 in 1906 at the age of 16 . Until his death he was the first chairman and president of this club, which is now the oldest active amateur boxing club in Germany.

Sports official and entrepreneur

Bruckmann grew up in the Cologne district of Mülheim . Even as an adolescent he was an avid sprinter and athlete. In August 1906 he co-founded SC Colonia 06. Initially, the sporting focus of the club was on athletics and cycling. When the club gave up athletics and only trained boxers, Bruckmann moved to the other camp and headed SC Colonia 06 for decades.

As a co-founder of SC Colonia 06, he led the club in honor. In 1927 he brought three winners back to Cologne from an amateur European championship: Franz Dübbers in the featherweight division, Jakob Domgörgen in the light weight division and Hein Müller in the light heavy weight division. When they were wished luck, they said spontaneously: “Also congratulate head coach Ludwig Neecke and our chairman. They got us so far. ”Other boxers followed who chose Cologne as their training base and who got the polish for great successes here, such as Max Schmeling and Jupp Besselmann .

In 1938 he founded Josef Bruckmann OHG on Berliner Strasse in Cologne-Mülheim - today's Bruckmann Disposal GmbH in Cologne-Dünnwald .

Bruckmann died in 1948 three days before his 58th birthday. His grave is located in Cologne's southern cemetery .
