Hein Müller (born December 6, 1903 in Cologne , † April 29, 1945 in Berlin ) was a German boxer . Hein Müller was both European champion among amateurs and professionals.

Life

At the European Boxing Championships in Berlin in 1927 , Hein Müller, who was German welterweight champion in 1925, German middleweight champion in 1926 and German light heavyweight champion in 1927, won the European light heavyweight championship ahead of Karel Miljon from the Netherlands and Clas Engström from Sweden . After this success, Hein Müller moved to the professional camp in 1927 and made his debut in Cologne on October 4, 1927 with a knockout victory over the Italian Carlo Scotti . On February 1, 1929 he won the German light heavyweight title with a victory over Hein Heeser .

Müller suffered his first defeat on June 27, 1929 in the fight for the European Championship against the Italian Michele Bonaglia . He soon switched to the heavyweight division. In 1931 he became German heavyweight champion with a victory over Hans Schonrath . In the same year he competed against the Belgian Pierre Charles in the fight for the European title. In Berlin Post Stadium Heinmüller won on points. In January 1932 Müller defended the title in Leicester with a knockout victory over Reggie Meen from Great Britain . On May 28, 1932, Hein Müller lost his European title in Brussels to Pierre Charles, who successfully took revenge. In 1932/33 Müller suffered two knockout defeats against Otto von Porat ( Norway ) and the still undefeated Jack Petersen from Wales . Against Petersen, Müller went down in the first lap.

In 1933 he was supposed to defend his German heavyweight championship against Vincenz Hower . The first fight on June 25th in Cologne was canceled. The re-match five days later ended in a draw. On March 9, 1934, Müller finally lost on points in the third meeting in Berlin. Hein Müller fought his last fight against Erwin Klein in November , against whom he was defeated by a technical knockout.

Due to an optic nerve damage, Hein Müller was initially exempt from military service in the Second World War. Two months before the end, however, he was drafted into the Volkssturm and was fatally hit by a projectile near his apartment in Berlin at the end of April.
