Josef Buchta
Josef Buchta (born February 16, 1948 in Rabensburg ) was commandant of the Lower Austrian Fire Brigade Association and former president of the Austrian Federal Fire Brigade Association from 2006 to February 16, 2013 . He was employed by OMV and until 2011 the commander of the Rabensburg volunteer fire brigade.
Life
Buchta completed two apprenticeships (industrial fitter and deep drill), he also attended the Technological Trade Museum and completed the foreman course in 1969, specializing in mechanical engineering. In 1988 he trained as a welding foreman. From 1962 to 2003 Josef Buchta worked at OMV, at the end of which he was Operations Manager of Technical Services at OMV.
In 2006 he took over the role of regional fire brigade commander from his predecessor, honorary regional fire director Wilfried Weissgärber . Shortly after his election, he was the chief of operations in the March flood in 2006 . On the Bundesfeuerwehrtag 2008 he was the only candidate for the President of the ÖBFV and in this role he has now succeeded Manfred Seidl , who has made his post available after ten years. On the initiative of Buchtas, among other things, the process of certification of the fire brigade schools began, at the end of which there should be an industry-recognized training course for firefighters. On December 4, 2008, Josef Buchta presented Federal President Heinz Fischer with the gold Floriani plaque of the Austrian Federal Fire Brigade Association .
In the elections in Lower Austria in 2011, in which he was only allowed to run until February 16, 2013 due to his age, he was re-elected with 14:10 votes in a vote against the St. Pölten district commander Dietmar Fahrafellner .
Buchta is married and lives in Rabensburg. For some time, both his considerable allowance for voluntary work and his company car privilege were controversially discussed in the print media.
