Josef Durry

Josef Durry (born October 15, 1881 in Marchegg , Lower Austria ; † January 3, 1970 there ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Life

After attending five classes of elementary school in Marchegg, Josef Durry attended a three-year public school in Vienna . After taking evening classes at a drawing and modeling school, Durry learned the trade of carpenter . In 1914 he took over his father's company in Marchegg, which traded in wood.

1918 Durry was in the council elected by Marchegg. In 1935 he was elected mayor . He remained so until 1938. After the annexation of Austria , Durry had to serve several months of political imprisonment in 1938.

In 1945 Durry briefly took over the agendas of the Mayor of Marchegg again. In 1946 he resigned from this position. In December 1945 he became a member of the Federal Council in Vienna. He was a member of this until November 1949.
