Josef Fill (politician, 1939)

Josef "Sepp" Fill (born July 16, 1939 in Afing , Jenesien , South Tyrol ) is a retired Austrian entrepreneur and politician ( ÖVP ). From 2000 to 2004 he was regional councilor in the Upper Austrian regional government .

Childhood and youth

Josef Fill came to St. Georgen near Obernberg with his parents at the age of eight months . The boy helped out in a wagon workshop at an early age, and later trained as a locksmith at Walter & Wintersteiger in Obernberg .

Professional background

After his master craftsman's examination, he went into business for himself as a locksmith in Gurten in 1966 , initially as a petrol station operator, but soon switched to mechanical engineering. Today the Fill company has 800 employees and is a leading international company for special machine and plant engineering. In 2000 Josef Fill handed over the management of the family business to his son Andreas. From 1990 to 2000, Josef Fill headed the Ried Chamber of Commerce for ten years .

politics

From the beginning of July 2000 he took over the office of the regional economic and tourism council in Upper Austria. State government. Fill, who is known as the “ political father of the Geinberg thermal baths ”, which opened in 1998, was largely responsible for its realization. The thermal baths were well received by domestic and foreign visitors and revitalized the economically not very strong region. In 2004 Josef Fill retired.

Josef Fill is married and has three grown children. He has been playing golf since 1988 .
