Josef Halbmayr

Josef Halbmayr (* 1955 ) is an Austrian manager. From May 17, 2016, he was interim Chief Executive Officer of the Austrian Federal Railways . He was followed on May 24, 2016 by Andreas Matthä in this position. Together with Matthä, CFO Halbmayr formed a two-man board.

Life

Halbmayr studied at the Johannes Kepler University Linz Business Administration and graduated in 1990 a one-year MBA program at the University of Toronto . From 1997 to 1999 he was head of the post bus in the Post and Telekom Austria and to 2004 member of the board at the Post AG . In 2005 he moved to the board of directors of Wiener Privatbank Immobilieninvest AG and from there to the state-owned ÖBB.

In May 2018 it was announced that he was resigning from his ÖBB board mandate early at the end of 2018. His contract would have run until 2020. In December 2018 Arnold Schiefer was appointed as his successor as CFO of ÖBB-Holding, he took over this function on April 1, 2019.
