Arnold Slate

Arnold Schiefer (born December 22, 1966 ) is an Austrian manager . In December 2018, he was appointed CFO of ÖBB-Holding as the successor to Josef Halbmayr ; he took over this function on April 1, 2019. Before that, he had been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ÖBB- Holding AG since February 2018 .

Life

Arnold Schiefer grew up in Gmunden in the Salzkammergut , in Innsbruck he worked in the free state parliament from the mid-1990s and was a member of the municipal council . He studied business administration in Vienna and Innsbruck, graduating with a master's degree.

From 2000 he held several functions in the Ministry of Infrastructure under the FPÖ Ministers Monika Forstinger and Mathias Reichhold , initially as a secretary and cabinet member, later as a section head . Before moving to the Austrian Federal Railways under FPÖ Minister Hubert Gorbach in September 2005, he became a member of the ASFINAG Supervisory Board . At ÖBB he was project manager for the construction of the Vienna Central Station and later on an interim basis as a member of the board of the Brenner Base Tunnel SE . In 2006 he became CEO of ÖBB-Infrastruktur Betrieb AG , in 2010 he became Chief Financial Officer of Rail Cargo Hungaria under Christian Kern, Chairman of the ÖBB Board of Management , and in summer 2012 he became CEO of Rail Cargo Austria AG.

In April 2013 he succeeded Josef Schultheis as board member of Alpine Holding . From October 1, 2015, he was a member of the Management Board of Heta Asset Resolution ; his contract originally expired in October 2018. In June 2018 it was announced that the contract had been extended for one year. He left Heta at the end of March 2019.

In the course of the formation of the Federal Government Short I after the National Council election in October 2017, he negotiated on the FPÖ side in the Transport and Infrastructure section . At the end of December 2017, FPÖ Infrastructure Minister Norbert Hofer announced the early replacement of Brigitte Ederer (SPÖ). Since February 2018, Schiefer was the successor to the Supervisory Board of ÖBB-Holding AG , with Kurt Weinberger remaining as his deputy . In December 2018, Schiefer was appointed as the successor to Josef Halbmayr as CFO of ÖBB-Holding, he took over this function on April 1, 2019. Gilbert Trattner succeeded him as Chairman of the Supervisory Board .

Schiefer was named in 2017 as a possible FPÖ Minister for Economics and Infrastructure of the Federal Government Kurz I , and in 2018 as a possible CFO for ORF and as a possible board member of Verbund AG .

Arnold Schiefer is a member of the Teutonia academic fraternity . From industry magazine he was ranked 2,018 on the list of the most influential Austrian managers ranked 10th

In BVAEB, the insurance company for the public service and rail transport company, which has merged from civil servants 'and railway workers' insurance, he is to become a member of the administrative body.

In August 2019, his move from FPÖ Vienna to FPÖ Upper Austria was announced.
