Kurt Weinberger

Kurt Weinberger (* 1961 in Linz ) is an Austrian insurance manager . He has been a member of the board of directors since 1996 and has been chairman of the board of Austrian hail insurance since 2002 .

Life

Weinberger attended the Stiftsgymnasium the Benedictines in Upper Austria Lambach , where he in 1979 graduated . He studied at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna and law at the University of Salzburg . In 1986 he received his doctorate in engineering. In 1987 he entered the office of the Upper Austrian Provincial Government, Department of Agricultural Law. In 1992 there was a change as a national expert to the EC Commission in Brussels. In 1993 he joined the Austrian hail insurance company and began a one-year trainee program at an Austrian insurance company and internship at Irish National in Dublin. In 1995 he completed the marketing course at the Management Institute in St. Gallen and in 1996 a several-month trainee in the European Parliament in Brussels. In 1996 he was appointed to the board of the Austrian hail insurance company and in 2002 as chairman of the board. His area of ​​responsibility includes strategy, accounting, insurance technology, real estate, law, compliance, communication and the branches in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Slovenia.

In 2011 he was elected President of the global association of agricultural insurers AIAG (International Organization of Agricultural Production Insurers) and was confirmed in this position in 2013. In 2012 he completed a course in Business & Sustainability at the University of Cambridge .

In 2015 he was elected Vice President of the Supervisory Board of ÖBB Holding . From 2018 to 2023 he is Chairman of the University Council of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences.

Weinberger has been committed to more climate and soil protection in Austria for more than 15 years. For example, he created the Climate Protection Prize in Austria , which is now awarded annually by ORF . Various soil protection campaigns initiated by him are intended to create awareness of the fact that in Austria, due to the massive construction, soil is being handled far too carelessly.

Kurt Weinberger is married and has three children. He lives in Vienna-Josefstadt .

He is a member of the Rotary Club Vienna, Northeast and the Catholic student association KÖHV Amelungia Vienna in the ÖCV .
