Andreas Matthä (born September 20, 1962 in Villach ) is an Austrian manager. He has been CEO of ÖBB -Holding AG since May 24, 2016 .

Life

From 1976 Andreas Matthä attended the civil engineering department of the Higher Technical College Vienna I, where he graduated in 1982 and was later given the status of engineer . From 1998 he completed the business management course at the Vienna University of Applied Sciences , and in 2002 he graduated with a Mag. (FH) .

From 1982 he was responsible for bridge construction and civil engineering in the ÖBB construction management in Vienna, from 1986 in the ÖBB general directorate for bridge construction. In 2005 he became an authorized signatory and head of the Controlling and Finance division at ÖBB-Infrastruktur Bau AG , and was its spokesman for the board in 2008 and 2009. From 2008 he acted as head of the facilities department at ÖBB-Infrastruktur Bau AG, and from 2009 as head of finance, market and service .

Matthä formed the two-man board of directors of ÖBB with CFO Josef Halbmayr from May 24, 2016 and was initially interim chairman of ÖBB; on July 4, 2016, he was finally appointed by the supervisory board to succeed Christian Kern . Since July 2016 he has been chairman of the supervisory board of ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG , Rail Cargo Austria AG and European Contract Logistics-Austria GmbH .

Matthä says he is a member of the SPÖ , but is not politically active. In 2019 he succeeded Peter Klugar as President of the Austrian Transport Science Society (ÖVG). He was Vice President of the Community of European Railways (CER), in January 2020 he was initially interim as the successor to Crister Fritzson as its President. He was elected President in February 2020.
