Josef Illig
Josef Illig (born May 5, 1908 in Munich ; † May 20, 1970 there ) was a German cameraman .
He attended the State Higher Technical School for Photo Technology , Cinema Technology Department, for four semesters . In 1927 he started as a camera assistant and was involved in numerous films, especially under Franz Koch .
At Koch's side, he first acted as co-chief cameraman in 1936. Illig continued to work with Koch, one taking on the interior and the other taking on the exterior. Since 1941 he participated in the war.
Only in 1948 did he return to the profession he had learned. Cooperation with Koch began again as early as 1949, with Illig being responsible for camera work and Koch for oversight. After separating from Koch in 1952, Illig mainly made short documentaries.
