Josef Köllen

Josef Köllen (born December 20, 1903 in Frechen ; † September 21, 1965 ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1954 to 1965 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

After graduating from elementary school and high school, Josef Köllen initially trained as a carpenter . After an internship in lignite and iron ore mining, he attended the State Mining School in Siegen and then worked as a cutter in hard coal mining. He trained in work, social and legal courses and later also worked as an economist and social security employee.

Köllen had been a union member since 1924 , after the Second World War he became involved in the DGB and was second chairman of the DGB Frechen and member of the DGB local committee Cologne-Land from 1949 to 1955. In 1952 Köllen became a city councilor and CDU parliamentary group chairman in Frechen and was a member of the Cologne-Land district assembly from 1952 to 1956.

Köllen was elected to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament in the 3rd, 4th and 5th state parliament election periods in constituency 11 (Cologne-Land-Nord), so he was a member of the state parliament from July 13, 1954 until his death on September 21 1965. Köllen was deputy chairman since October 21, 1958 and chairman of the social committee of the state parliament after November 6, 1959.
