Josef Koch (architect)
Josef Koch (born April 5, 1780 in Vienna ; † September 5, 1814 there ) was an Austrian master builder . He should not be confused with a church builder of the same name in Lower Austria.
Life
Josef Koch was the son of the Viennese city architect Ernst Koch . At the age of 13 he attended the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna , probably in the subjects of ore cutting and drawing, as it was planned from the beginning to follow in his father's footsteps. In 1804 he received his certificate as a bricklayer and in 1805 he became a civil master builder. In the same year he married Anna Wiener. In doing his military service, he made it up to the rank of first lieutenant of the knightly sniper corps. In 1814 he suffered a stroke and died at the age of 35.
Buildings
Although Koch worked as a builder for about ten years, today only two houses can be definitely attributed to him. They are typical residential buildings in the classical style.
