Josef Novak (politician, 1905)

Josef Novak (born August 14, 1905 in Vienna ; † August 20, 1977 there ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

After attending compulsory school, Josef Novak learned the trade of a bag maker through a commercial training school . Initially still working in his profession, Novak later also worked as a newspaper clerk and superstructure worker at the Reichsbahn . In the Second Republic , Novak was Revident at the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB).

Josef Novak campaigned for social democracy at an early age , and had to serve a prison sentence for this in 1935. In 1949 he became a member of the municipal council of Dürnkrut in Lower Austria , and only a year later, in 1950, Mayor . In October 1960 he moved to the Federal Council , of which he was a member for eleven years until December 1971.
