Aubignan is a French municipality with 5661 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Vaucluse in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur .
geography
Aubignan is located between the Dentelles de Montmirail and the town of Carpentras , five kilometers away , whose area borders the municipality directly to the southeast. Other neighboring communities are Saint-Hippolyte-le-Graveyron in the northeast, Beaumes-de-Venise in the north, Sarrians in the west and Loriol-du-Comtat in the southwest.
The most important watercourses are the Brégoux , which runs through the municipal area with numerous tributaries from northeast to southwest, and the Canal de Carpentras , which was built in the 19th century .
