Jonquières ( Occitan Jonquieras ) is a southern French commune in the department of Vaucluse in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . The population is 5399 (as of January 1, 2017).
geography
Jonquières is bounded to the east by the Ouvèze river . The Canal de Carpentras runs in the northeast of the municipality . Jonquières is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Camaret-sur-Aigues in the north and north-west, Violès in the north-east, Sarrians in the east and south-east, Courthézon in the south and south-west and Orange in the west.
The former national route 550 (today: D950) and 577 (D977) run through the municipality .
