Attractions
Several picturesque streets lead to the Romanesque church from the 13th century , where you can discover fountains and wash houses . The warm colors of the facades are due to the nearby ocher quarries .
The church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin was founded as a priory in the 14th century . The originally Romanesque nave has a Latin cross plan and three cross-pointed arches supported by beams. Under the floor there is a crypt with old vaults. The semicircular apse has a semi-domed vault.
The style of Vaubonne Castle can be dated to the 18th century . It consists of a main building with two upstream side wings. There are two rural chapels in the municipality. The first is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin and is located in the Canaud Gorge. It is partially carved into the rock. The higher located chapel of Saint-Jean-du-Désert has been attested since 1154 under the name of Sancti Johannis in territorio Villelonga in Monte Ventorio . The uniformly looking nave and the semicircular apse were restored in 1938.
