Josef Oesterle

Josef Oesterle (born April 14, 1899 in Weißensberg ; † August 31, 1959 in Munich ) was a German economist and politician ( BVP , CSU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Oesterle, who was a Roman Catholic , was drafted into military service in 1917. After being seriously wounded, he remained in the hospital until 1920. He then studied economics and received his doctorate in political science in 1924. During his studies he became a member of the Catholic student association K.St.V. Ottonia Munich. From 1934 he was a member of the board of the Manz AG publishing house. From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . From 1946 he was President of the Bavarian State Office for Asset Management in Munich.

Political party

Oesterle joined the BVP during the Weimar Republic and was the party's deputy general secretary from 1925 to 1933. After 1945 he was a member of the CSU.

MP

Oesterle was a member of the German Bundestag from its first election in 1949 until his death. As a directly elected member, he represented the constituency of Augsburg-Land in parliament. From July 1, 1954 until his death, he was also a member of the European Parliament .
