Josef "Beppo" Röckenwagner (born April 9, 1942 , † July 1, 2016 in Dachau ) was a German football player .
Career
At the age of 19, Röckenwagner was part of the FC Bayern Munich squad , for which he first appeared in seven league matches in the Oberliga Süd in 1961/62 and scored three goals. He made his debut on August 6, 1961 (1st matchday) in the 1: 3 defeat in the away game against BC Augsburg . He scored his first point goal on February 18, 1962 (24th matchday) in the home game against Eintracht Frankfurt with the goal for the 2-0 final score in the 88th minute. In the following season he played only four point games, where he also managed a goal.
He completed his last season for Bayern in the second-rate Regionalliga Süd , as FC Bayern Munich was not included in the admission process when the Bundesliga was founded in 1963 . In 16 league games he scored all seven goals on three consecutive game days - from the 11th to the 13th and from the 17th to the 19th matchday.
At the beginning of the 1964/65 regional league season , which ended with promotion to the Bundesliga for FC Bayern Munich at the end of the season , Röckenwagner was drafted to do basic military service in the Bundeswehr . In a game played by the Bundeswehr national team, he suffered a serious knee injury that forced him to end his career prematurely at the age of only 23.
Others
Röckenwagner, who attended the Ludwig-Thoma-Schule in Dachau until 1956, later worked as a retail salesman in this city until his death .
