Josef Schork

Josef Schork (born April 7, 1934 in Worms ) is a German former high school teacher and director of studies .

Life

Schork was born in Worms as the son of the master carpenter Jakob Schork and his wife Emilie Schork (née Polcher), a commercial clerk. After graduating from high school in 1953, he studied history and German at universities in Mainz and Bonn . After his second state examination for higher teaching qualifications, he joined the Rhineland-Palatinate civil service in 1961 and taught German, history and social studies at grammar schools in Kirn and Worms until his retirement in 1996 . At the Eleonorengymnasium in Worms he had been the director of studies since 1973.

Voluntary activities

Schork has been involved in various social and cultural projects since 1962. In 1962 he founded the Worms Action Group of the German Leprosy and Tuberculosis Aid (DAHW) , has been involved in the Liebfrauen parish in Worms since 1964 and was chairman of the Worms district association in the Rhineland-Palatinate Association of the European Union of Germany (EUD) from 1978-2010 . From 1969–99, Schork was responsible for media work on the DAHW national board . More than 5 million euros in donations were collected as part of several gala benefit events in cooperation with ZDF . Among other things, this money was used to set up two leprosy projects in Madagascar , called “Worms”, and an ambulance in Ethiopia . Josef Schork has been honorary chairman of the EUD district association in Worms since 2010.

Since his retirement he has mainly devoted himself to the publication of his research results on the history of the Worms church and town.

Political activities

Schork has been a member of the CDU local association of Worms- Hochheim since 1964 .
