Josef Seßler

Josef Seßler (born April 26, 1763 in Großweikersdorf ; † May 24, 1842 in Vordernberg ) was an Austrian industrialist and industrial pioneer.

The son of a postmaster acquired the Hönigtalerhof with the associated hammer mill near Krieglach in 1792 , the Vogelschen scythe hammer in Freßnitz in 1800 and a hammer mill in Feistritz in 1805 , in which pig iron was processed into steel, coarse and stretch iron , and also into end products such as wagon axles. In 1814, he acquired the Radwerk III blast furnace in Vordernberg in order to ensure that his works were supplied with pig iron. This also made him a member of the cycling championship community founded in 1829 . He experienced the economic rise during the Napoleonic Wars. After 1815, when British competition put the Styrian ironworks under severe pressure, he switched to end products. In 1838 he built a puddling and rolling mill in Krieglach to produce iron sheets. The driving force was already his son-in-law Carl von Prevenhueber, who played a pioneering role in Styrian locomotive construction.

He is the grandfather of Viktor Seßler Freiherr von Herzinger , who inherited the whole property age of six years, continued the operations and also Member of the Styrian parliament was
