Life
Spitzeder, the son of a married couple, was initially an actor . He then became a student of the court conductor Joseph Weigl in Vienna . In 1816 he made his debut there as an opera singer. Spitzeder was engaged in Vienna for several years and impressed above all with his Buffo games. In 1823 he was engaged at the Königsstädtische Theater in Berlin . He was particularly brilliant as " Papageno " in Mozart's Magic Flute . In 1832, shortly before his death, he was appointed to the Munich Court Opera . In addition to Mozart , Rossini was also part of the singer's repertoire. He died of a lung disease.
His first marriage was to the singer and Mozart interpreter Henriette Spitzeder-Schüler († 1828), with whom he had ten (!) Children. Widowed, he married Betty Vio in 1831 , with whom he had a scandal-ridden daughter: the actress and speculator Adele Spitzeder convicted of fraud .
