Josef Steiner (athlete)
Josef Steiner (born September 24, 1950 in Innsbruck ) is a former Austrian long-distance runner .
He finished 128th at the World Cross Country Championships 1978 in Glasgow and 1979 World Cross Country Championships in Limerick . In 1980 he came in 14th place in the Karl Marx Stadt Marathon and set an Austrian record with 2:16:43 h. In the marathon of the Olympic Summer Games in Moscow he finished 39th in 2: 24: 24.0 hours.
Steiner was twice Austrian champion in the marathon (1979 and 1981) and once each over 5000 meters (1972), 10,000 meters (1977), in the 25 km road run (1979) and in the cross country run (1976).
