Josef zuner

Josef zuner (born May 2, 1890 in Augsburg , † January 10, 1950 in Baar ) was a Bavarian politician of the KPD and anti-fascist resistance fighter .

Life

Professionally, Josef zuner worked as a factory worker. On January 31, 1924, he became a member of the Bavarian State Parliament for the VKPD , replacing the retired Franz Auweck .

Because of his political activities in the resistance against National Socialism , he was imprisoned in the Eichstätt judicial prison from March 14, 1933 to May 8, 1933 and then in protective custody until 1935 in the Dachau concentration camp . As a "work sergeant" he distinguished himself in Dachau by warding off harassment and abuse from other prisoners. For this he was put in the arrest bunker for five months in August 1933.

In 1936 he managed to flee to France. From 1937 to 1938 he supported the fight against Franco and his fascist aides as a member of the Republican Army in the Spanish Civil War . After the defeat of the Republicans, he returned to France in August 1938, from where he was "transported" to North Africa in April 1940. In April 1947 he returned to Bavaria. From 1948 to 1950 he was honorary mayor of the municipality of Baar.
