Life

As early as 1899, Josef von Fielitz had guest appearances at the United City Theater in Eisleben and at the Passage Theater in Königsberg / East Prussia.

In 1911 von Fielitz belonged to the Max Reinhardt Ensemble Berlin , where he played one of the old men in Hofmannsthal's adaptation of King Oedipus . In World War I he took part as a deputy sergeant. In 1920 he starred in the silent film The Well Spiced Wedding Feast . In 1921 he was, at that time director at the Leipzig Schauspielhaus, the artistic director of the staging of mass spectacle Poor Konrad , a "popular game in four images," in Leipzig involved, which was performed on August 14 on the cycling facility at Cottaweg. Emma Grondona studied the dances. In August 1929 a similar event followed under Edwin Redslob in Berlin , which had been organized by the Reichskunstwart to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Weimar Constitution . At this festival, the Weimar Republic was embodied by a "living flag" made up of 3,500 children. A choir of 7,500 people provided the musical accompaniment. Alessandro Blasetti is said to have been inspired for his piece 18 BL by the piece Spartacus , which Fielitz had performed in Leipzig . Spartacus was performed with around 900 amateur actors in front of an audience of 50,000 people. This production was also shown on a cycling track. 18 BL came on stage in 1934 as part of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino .

From 1929 to 1931 von Fielitz lived as a game master in Berlin.
