Bristol debuted in a magazine in 1996 and published her first volume of poetry in 1999. The reception of her poems was largely positive and she was soon compared to Jürgen Rooste or even referred to as Ene Mihkelson's successor . However, there are also more cautious and negative reviews.

A lyrical undertone can also be felt in her prose works, which is why one critic spoke of a “fragmentary stream of moods”. In this respect the author resembles Tõnu Õnnepalu , as the same critic stated. The later works, some of which are autobiographical, have been compared with Peeter Sauter's work , for example , "but without vulgarity and more refined". A characteristic of Bristol's books is that they are often set in Tartu, which in turn brings the author close to Mehis Heinsaar and Mart Kivastik .
