Ivar Sild
Ivar Sild (born March 24, 1977 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian poet .
Life
Sild went to school in Tallinn from 1984 to 1987, attended boarding school in Orissaare from 1987 to 1992 and attended the forestry school in Luua from 1992 to 1997 . After graduating from Tallinn Evening Gymnasium, he studied Estonian philology at the Tallinn University of Education from 1997 to 2001 , but without graduating.
Ivar Sild has been a member of the Estonian Literary Society since 1999 and of the Estonian Writers' Union since 2002 .
Literary work
Like Jürgen Rooste, Sild was active in the Tallinn literary group TNT - Tallinna Noored Tegijad (i.e. Tallinn Young Active) and made his debut in literary magazines. In 1996 he presented his first volume of poetry, which was followed by just under a dozen more in the 21st century. Initially, many of his poems were published on the Internet and only later found their way between book covers.
Sild's poetry has been characterized as “oscillating between provocation and pathetic”, while at the same time pointing to a certain penis-centeredness. The reason for this is the author's offensive behavior against the suppression of same-sex love, which some critics in Estonia do not accept as thanks. Others, however, praise his unconventionality and compared him to Toomas Liiv , who was also an outsider.
