Josefine Oschmalz

Josefine Oschmalz (born November 19, 1916 in Sankt Georgen am Längsee , Carinthia ; † May 10, 2004 in Moosburg , Carinthia) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

Josefine Oschmalz, who was born in Gösseling, a cadastral parish of Sankt Georgen, attended elementary and secondary school in Sankt Veit an der Glan until 1932 . At first she worked as a housemaid until 1938 before she found work as an unskilled worker in a textile factory until 1940. In 1940 she finally became a contract employee at the Carinthian Post and Telegraph Directorate in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee . In 1952 she acquired the specialist examination in the postal service through evening schools .

In 1950 Oschmalz joined the SPÖ. In 1955 she became an employee of the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB) and a member of the state board of the ÖGB. From 1960 to 1977 she was also a member of the Carinthian Chamber for Workers and Employees .

In July 1974 Oschmalz was sworn in as a member of the Federal Council in Vienna . As a Federal Councilor, however, she only worked for eight months, until March 1975.
